Katelyn Rodriguez, MSW Intern
Katelyn Rodriguez, is originally from West Michigan. She graduated from Western Michigan University in December 2019 with a bachelor's degree in Child and Family Development. Katelyn is currently studying at The University of Michigan School of Social Work in the pathway of Welfare of Children and Families and is expected to graduate in December 2021.
Katelyn has a strong passion for working with youth, especially those impacted by trauma.
"After graduation I hope to work with children in foster care who are reuniting with their families. I would do this through individual child and family therapy.
My passion for working with youth began when I was 17 working at a summer camp as a counselor for welfare involved families. My curiosity continued as I interned with children’s protective services and eventually as a Crisis Support Specialist at Gails house, a foster care shelter in Kalamazoo.
With my experiences I hope to not only serve children and their families but to also work towards policy changes to ensure a equitable and effective welfare system."
